Alongside my research, I am also an experienced academic and literary editor. I offer editing services through Divya Nadkarni Editing, a freelance editing company run by me.

I primarily work with academic researchers and students in the Humanities and Social Sciences, to edit, restructure and/or proofread articles, dissertations, and books at various stages of preparation. For writings in their early stages, I probe, with substantive comments, into the structure, organization, and argumentative clarity of the texts. For writings in their late/pre-publication stages, I read closely at the word and sentence levels, checking for spelling and grammatical errors, while also intervening in syntax, structure, and word choice. I always check-in on the needs of the researcher (for e.g. the areas in which you need help at this moment) to ensure that I provide optimal support and not unintentionally burden the work at hand. You could for instance specify if you would like only edits for a final polish and no additional comments.

My rates are competitive and flexible, with special consideration for those who are not institutionally funded. If you have no institutional support and are working on a tight budget, do indicate this, so I could estimate accordingly my rates and the time I would require.
